Experiential Fiction

By Lee Walton with site-specific short stories by Kristofer Folkhammar, Lina Persson, UKON, and Sara Hallström

Experiential Fiction consists of site/experience-specific short stories commissioned by the artist for selected locations in the city. Viewers are given a map and instructions to find these stories, which are uncannily entwined into the site and can only make sense if read within their specific location. By referencing the smells, sounds and tangible details of the immediate environment, these writers bring fiction closer to real life. Often regarded as an Experientialist, Walton’s work takes many forms, such as game/system-based structures, videos, web-based performances, public projects, theatrical orchestrations and more.

Lee Walton lives and works in the USA. He has exhibited internationally: including ICA Boston; New Museum (New York); Reykjavik Art Museum of Iceland; Ljubljana Museum of Art; Island #6 (China).
